Heidi Kon, LCSW
Psychotherapist |
I am a licensed clinical social worker and educator who has worked in the field since 1984, when I graduated from the University of Chicago School of Social Service Administration. A former director of both rape crisis and domestic violence programs, I am also an educator who is committed to the value, dignity, and potential of each individual. Over the years, I have become a specialist in relationship and communication issues, depression, anxiety, grief and mourning, domestic violence, sexual abuse, and post-traumatic stress. For many years, I have also been involved in the anti-racism movement and am committed to providing services in a culturally-sensitive and competent manner.
I use the image of exposing the many seeds of the pomegranate because my work has shown me that by uncovering and exploring the many parts of ourselves-- and our past and present experiences -- we are able to break old habits, overcome past trauma, and grow into our most authentic and fully-realized selves. The client-therapist relationship is a sacred trust that I take very seriously. It has been my honor to work with people on their journey to happier and more enriching lives. I have benefitted from counseling in my own life, so I understand both the apprehension that can come with making the decision to start self-exploration, as well as the relief and comfort that comes from it. I am here to support you as you invest in yourself. I hope you decide to call and look forward to talking with you. |
